Senior Network Architect
Location: Bordon, Hampshire (with regular travel to Client sites)
Reports to: Parico Technical Team Lead
Day Rate: Upto £600 per day, outside of IR35, 12 month contract
Security Clearance: Active SC or higher required for this role

The Role:
Parico is seeking a talented Senior Network Architect who is smart, curious and prospers against the challenge of working closely with a small business to solve complex and challenging problems across the UK defence landscape. You’ll have the freedoms to be truly innovative, to roll up your sleeves, get stuck into the detail of systems, create demos and proof-of-concepts, and generally do what it takes to achieve incredible technical solutions to our customer’s complex problems.
Responsibilities include:
Significant depth of experience within key disciplines such as design, de-risking and development, including:
- Significant design, implementation and troubleshooting experience implementing networking solutions with VMWare NSX-T.
- Distributed Firewall components
- Logical Networks
- Tier 0 and Tier 1 Components
- VMware Validated Designs
- Design and decomposition of Hierarchical IP Subnetting.
- In-depth understanding of routing protocols, internal and external, OSPF, and BGP.
- Advanced knowledge of routers, switches and firewalls product lines and vendor licensing models;
- Detailed knowledge of core network technologies and infrastructure:
- Cisco Nexus;
- Cisco IOS XE;
- Leaf and Spine network architecture;
- VXLAN Overlay networks;
- Dual Cloud Dual Hub DMVPN Solutions;
- Layer 3 Multicast / PIM;
- Firewall IPS/IDS;
- AAA Management Platform e.g. ISE;
- Government Grade Crypto
- Configuration of devices and management of keymat.
- Detailed understanding of all aspects of QOS (Traffic Shaping, Policing, Scheduling, Congestion Management and Avoidance).
- A comprehensive and detailed understanding of modern private cloud datacentre architectures, including detailed and extensive experience in configuring and deploying networks across a wide range of scenarios.
- Design and configuration of Wide Area Networks, high grade encryption and DSCP traffic management.
- Security implementations such as AAA, 802.1x and proxy services in line with NCSC good practice.
- Exceptional communication skills with diverse and adverse audiences - Strong critical thinking and analytical skills.
- Engage with technical discussions with the technical lead and senior stakeholders.
Our Ideal Candidate
- A proven track record for delivering several large-scale IT projects, with direct responsibility for designing and implementing highly available and resilient networking solutions including active-active failover for business continuity.
- Rationalising network designs & their alignment against architectural best practice.
- Demonstrable experiencing of working with Enterprise Systems, Platforms and Networks within both a datacentre environment and a cloud environment.
- Working as part of an Agile development team.
- Experience working with Dev-ops tools including;
- JIRA
- Confluence
- Bitbucket
- Have demonstrable sector knowledge or experience within UK Defence (Army, Air force or Royal Navy).
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to hold a minimum of UK Security Clearance (SC).
- Hold a UK Driving Licence and have a willingness to travel to client sites.
Essential Qualifications
- VMware VMware VCP-NV (VMware vCenter Certified Professional – Network Virtualisation).
- CCNP (Cisco Certified Network Professional) or similar.
- Certified professional qualifications in recognised technology roadmaps at a design level (CCIE, CCDA, VCDX-NV) or similar.
